Concept Note

CASS invited Former President Azad Jammu & Kashmir Sardar Masood Khan to deliver a guest lecture on ‘Pakistan’s Emerging Geostrategic Landscape: Challenges & Opportunities’ on 30 September 2021. The distinguished guest speaker identified key geostrategic trends, critical global, regional and national challenges and also suggested valuable policy measures that can help Pakistan convert these challenges into opportunities, not only to build national pride but also to chart a course for national progress and prosperity. He stated that the world order was in a flux and Pakistan should be prepared for more rapid developments in the region. The Indian animosity and the evolving situation in Afghanistan had put Pakistan on the international radar and Pakistan needed an astute approach to convert these challenges into opportunities. He was of the view that economic development is of pivotal and strategic importance for Pakistan; and suggested that Pakistan should diversify its international engagements and reduce external dependence, to promote both its security and economic interests. However, he warned against relying on any single major power.
