In a recent virtual book launch1 at PIDE for the book Public Value and the Post-pandemic Society, it was distinctly noted that a comparison between public value theory and public choice theory would be highly warranted, and I was advised to analyse both theories in light of their presuppositions, analytical bases, and policy recommendations. I also believe this is a useful exercise and, in that regard, I offer a brief comparative analysis of both theories here.
