Professional Experience

Air Vice Marshal Khawar Hussain (Retd) joined the Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies, Islamabad as Director in Oct 2025. AVM Khawar served in the Pakistan Air Force from 1984 to 2018. During his career, he commanded a Fighter Squadron and a Fighter Base. He remained on the faculty of Combat Commanders’ School (CCS) and also served as an instructor pilot in PAF Academy Risalpur. He did National Security and War Course (NSWC) from the National Defence University (NDU) and completed his masters in “National Security Affairs” from Monterey CA, USA. He served as a Defence Attaché in Abu Dhabi, UAE for three years. His staff appointments include Assistance Chief of the Staff (Personal) AHQs, DDG Civil Aviation Authority and DG Joint Operation GHQ. After Retirement he served as Director Planning and Development at Air University Islamabad. He is a recipient of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) for his services to the PAF.
