Sarah Siddiq Aneel

Professional Experience

Sarah Siddiq Aneel is Deputy Director Publications at the Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies, Islamabad, Pakistan. She has two decades of project management, institutional governance, research and academic publishing experience in the development sector of Pakistan, both within government and non-government organisations. Before joining CASS, she was spearheading the Publications & Media Branch at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI). With more than 41 edited anthologies to her credit – her most recent publication ‘Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19’ (2022) was launched by the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi. Her earlier works include ‘Sustainable Development in a Digital Society’ (2021); ‘Corridors of Knowledge for Peace and Development’ (2020); ‘Conflict and Cooperation in South Asia: Role of Major Powers’ (2019) as well as ‘The Kaleidoscope That Is Pakistan’ (2019) launched by the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan. Ms Aneel’s portfolio also includes strategic management of long-term multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Pakistan Environment Program (PEP) – a Canadian-funded national-level environmental initiative of the Government of Pakistan, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). She has also worked on child sexual abuse and gender-based violence at Rozan for several years. A Chevening Fellow (2008) in ‘Governance and Environmental Democracy’ from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and LUMS-McGill Fellow (2005-06) in ‘Social Enterprise Development’, she has a Masters in English Literature, and has also studied Integrated Approaches to Sustainable Development Practices from Earth Institute, Columbia University, USA.
